Students who earn a master’s degree can make up to 32 percent more income than those with only a bachelor’s, according to Gregory Gayle, who represented FAU’s Graduate College at the last fair.
That is one reason why, every fall, FAU offers a free Professional/Graduate School Fair for students who are interested in furthering their education by earning, for example, a master’s or doctoral degree or by attending law school or medical school. The next fair will take place on Oct. 27 on both the Boca and Davie campuses.
According to Daniel Partouche, assistant director of FAU’s Career Development Center, the Professional/Graduate School Fair is a unique and rare opportunity for students to meet with representatives from schools they are interested in and get first-hand knowledge of what admissions representatives look for. He explained that attendees will be able to speak one-on-one with admissions representatives, get information about application procedures, and learn how to increase their chances of being admitted.
Seventy-four schools have confirmed their attendance, which is a record high, according to Partouche. Students who plan on attending can check the event website for a list of attending schools. Partouche said that FAU received a great response at last year’s fair and expects that this year will be the same. “Due to the economy, many students are choosing to go to graduate or professional school, because the job market has become so competitive, and it can increase their employability and skill set,” he said.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman or a senior. Partouche explained, “It’s never to early to start discussing graduate and professional programs, and the Graduate/Professional Fair is a great place to begin.”
