Head football coach Carl Pelini thought his staff was complete, but now it has a gaping void.

Marvin Sanders, who accepted the role of defensive coordinator at FAU less than two months ago, is now headed to USC to become its defensive backs coach, according to footballscoop.com.

The move leaves Pelini shorthanded for the time being, but apparently it does not concern him. Pelini has already begun the process of interviewing new candidates over the phone, according to fauowlaccess.com. He will bring candidates to Boca this week, hoping to have a replacement by the end of the week.

Sanders, who coached with Pelini at Nebraska, held the most D-1 experience on FAU’s staff.
