Martin Lawrence portrays Earl Montgomery, an arrogant L.A.P.D. cadet whose antics get him thrown out of the stringent police academy. After being booted out of the academy, he manages to find a job at the bottom of the ladder, as a poorly paid security guard at National Security. Then, Earl incriminates fellow officer Hank Rafferty (Steve Zahn) on harassment charges. Hank is dismissed from the L.A.P.D. and also becomes a guard at National Security. The odd pair manages to work together when Earl unveils a highly intricate smuggling operation run by Nash (Eric Roberts). With Nash on their tail and police foul play involved, Earl and Hank are wanted dead.
