A play within a play, that’s the edgy concept of the British comedic masterpiece, Noises-Off, which will be premiering at FAU’s Festival Repertory Theatre tonight at 8pm.
Noises-Off is an action packed physical comedy which according to critic Frank Rich, “is, was, and probably always will be the funniest play written in my lifetime”. Jean-Louis Baldet, former theater department chairman and director of Noises Off said, “it’s regarded as one of the funniest plays written in the last 40 years, and we have a great cast. Two of the graduate students are Broadway actors.” One of those Broadway actors is Kathryn Lee Johnston, who will play the roles of Dotty and Mrs. Clackett. Johnston has also made appearances on the hit TV shows Spin City and Welcome to New York. “I’m really thrilled to be back with the students at FAU. The graduate students are all new to the summer rep, but wow, are they terrific!” said Johnson.
Bruce Linser, who has made an appearance in the 1999 film Drop Dead Gorgeous starring Kirsten Dunst. Linser has also performed at Caldwell Theatre Company in Boca Raton. “The script is hysterical,” Linser said. Peter Haig, a Carbonell winner, has been named best actor twice by New Times. “Haig has always chosen intelligent roles, so it’s worth your while to choose his performances whenever they pop up.” which was said in New Times. Linser said, “It should be a lot of fun to do as well as to see.”
