On Sat. Sept. 24, the FAU College Democrats (FAUCD) hosted guest speakers from all levels of American politics.
State Senators David Aronberg and Kelly Skidmore were among those who spoke.
Fundraising for the Florida College Democrats (FCD) was the focus of the meeting. According to FAUCD President Boris Bastidas, money raised at the event didn’t go the FAUCD, it went to the FCD. Bastidas also claimed the FAUCD didn’t spend any money.
FAU College Republicans VP Jeff Arnold also showed up, and debated with guest speakers on religion and public policy.
Former Congressman Ron Klein was scheduled to speak, but couldn’t attend due to a family emergency involving a close friend’s death earlier that day. Kelly Skidmore spoke on his behalf.

Hey Boris, I did not write the caption to that shirt or mention it anywhere in my story. My editor already confirmed this with me, and edits are forthcoming. Thanks for pointing it out.

Just a grammatical thing….”Bastidas claimed the FCD spend any money” was that trying to say that we “didn’t” spend any money? We didn’t raise any money from the fundraiser, true. However our club did spend money on the police/security at the event as well as the drinks for the event.
Also the picture with the shirt has an incorrect caption, we are not selling our club shirts, we have given them out to our Eboard members and will be giving them out to all of our members at an upcoming meeting. Those shirts were purchased using A&S fee money, which we get from COSO which is part of Student Government. Therefore selling them to the public or to students would be inappropriate. That shirt at the event was only there as a decoration, that’s all. No shirts will be sold to anyone.
