FAU’s College Democrats and Republicans will duke it out in a debate about the economy on Nov. 2 in the Live Oak Pavillion.
College Democrats President Boris Bastidas told the UP that the debate will center around the economy and other current events, like the Occupy Wall Street protests and unemployment.
“[The debate] allows for an exchange of ideas between peers, instead of the same talking heads, while simultaneously allowing our clubs to spread our message on the issues of the day to our peers,” said Bastidas.
The UP will join Student Government Chief Justice Nicholas Scalice and OWL TV Station Manager AJ Jordat in asking questions.
Both Democrats and Republicans will have two minutes to answer each the question. The opposing side will have one minute for a rebuttal.
The debate is expected to begin at 5 p.m. and last until 6:30 p.m., according to Bastidas.
The UP tried multiple times to contact the College Republicans for their input, but they’ve returned no messages as of press time.
Check back next week for updates on the debate.
