The Owls baseball team lost Saturday to the Rutgers Scarlett Knights 6-3. The game was delayed for over an hour as thunderstorms swept through Boca. Despite not giving up a hit in his first three innings, starting pitcher Bo Logan (1-1) was credited with the loss. The top of the fourth inning began with a triple from Rutgers second baseman Nick Favatela.
The Scarlett Knights would score five runs and force Logan from the game. Reliever Kevin Alexander would come in and strike out the side, but not before the Owls were down 5-1.
Junior third baseman Kyle Newton would drive in two more runs for FAU throughout the game going 3-4 with two RBIs on the night.
The Owls ninth inning saw the tying run come to the plate with runners in scoring position and two outs. However, first baseman Mark Nelson would ground out to first base ending the game.
The loss brings the Owls record to 10-6 on the season, good for second place behind University of Arkansas.
FAU continues the series against the Scarlett Knights Sunday, in Boca at 1p.m.
