The road losing streak continues.
FAU lost to University of Arkansas at Little Rock 9-2, but is still tied with Arkansas State, which also lost 10-7 today to FIU. The Owls have now lost four straight road games.
Owls starting pitcher Kevin Alexander was credited with the loss. Alexander allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings.
Second baseman Mike Albaladejo singled up the middle to give the Owls a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. UALR would quickly respond in the bottom half of the inning with a run off a double from center fielder Cameron Bentley.
UALR scored four unanswered runs to stretch the lead to 4-1 by the top of the seventh inning. Owls center fielder Geoff Jimenez’s fly out drove in third baseman Kyle Newton to cut the deficit to 4-2.
UALR catcher Blake Johnson’s three-run homer off FAU reliever Bennis in the bottom of the seventh however would seal the loss.
Albaladejo was the only FAU batter with multiple hits, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Newton was 1 for 3 with a run.
The Owls are now 28-20 overall and just 11-11 on the road.
FAU looks to avoid the road series sweep in the finale on Sunday, May 13, at 1:00 p.m.
