Just a few weeks ago, Hispanic comedians Julio Gonzalez and George Perez kicked off the start of Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month. This week, Alpha Psi Lambda Co-Ed Latin Fraternity is hosting Latin Comedy night this Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7:13 p.m. in Coyote Jack’s. FAU brings some of South Florida’s greatest amateur comedians like Tony Rivera, Iam Nickyp, Michael Cintron, Edgar Pozos and Jonathon “PhatChopz” Cardenas, according to Alpha Psi Lambda President Francisco Miranda.
The comedians will first tell jokes or express themselves — whatever they think it takes to win the crowd. Then the audience will vote on who their favorite act was. The winner will be determined by the crowd choice and rewarded with a $100 Visa Gift Card, Miranda added.
Students will also have a chance to win prizes by entering a raffle to win giveaways from New Era Barber Shop and New Era For Her Salon, co-sponsors of Latin Comedy Night, located at the main entrance of the Student Union. Giveaways include free cuts for guys and free treatments for the ladies.
“Last year we had a great turnout and a great lineup of three comedians,” Miranda said. “So this year we are hoping for more! We have four confirmed.”
Latin Comedy Night starts at 7:13 p.m. in Coyote Jack’s.
The show is free for students.
