Whether you want to celebrate the death of an Irish archbishop by drinking yourself into a stupor, or prefer a traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade, everyone’s Irish on March 17 and here’s five events taking place to celebrate it — skydiving leprechauns and all — and you don’t even have to go to Ireland.
O’Brien’s Irish Pub Block Party: Located at 51 SE 1st Ave. in Boca Raton, O’Brien’s plans on continuing its tradition of shutting down the entire block to hold a St. Patrick’s Day party. The bar plans on opening at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, to start with an ‘eggs and kegs breakfast’ and staying open until 2 a.m. Last year, O’Brien’s Pub drew nearly 5,000 people on St. Patricks Day, and they expect the same or more this year. The massive crowd shouldn’t deter anyone, though — there will be plenty of outdoor bars and a beer truck to serve drinks to patrons.
The Irishmen Pub Celebration: The Irishmen Pub is kicking off St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. — which is 12 p.m. Sunday in Ireland — by offering a shot to the entire bar. But the real St. Patrick’s day at the Irishmen officially begins at 9 a.m. Sunday with an Irish breakfast, and will have live bands playing music all day long including Echoes of Erin, a traditional Irish band. They plan on going through 100 kegs of beer on St. Patrick’s Day, so get there before it’s gone. The Irishmen Pub is located at 1745 NW 2nd Ave. in Boca Raton.
Dubliner Irish Pub: The Dubliner Irish Pub is shutting down all of Plaza Real to hold their St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The Dubliner will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday and is going to open up five remote bars around the pub and in the street. The celebration will feature live music all day long — including New York native U2 cover band, Someday Radio — and the Red Bull skydiving team. The Red Bull skydiving team will be parachuting dressed as leprechauns onto a 75 square foot landing pad in the middle of Plaza Real. The festivities will be taking place at 435 Plaza Real in Boca Raton.
Delray Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Park Tavern Food and Drink is sponsoring the 46th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on E. Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach. The parade will pay homage to firefighters from across the country and will host several outdoor bars from businesses located on Atlantic Avenue. The event expects to draw 150,000 attendees and is free to attend. Click here for more info.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival Downtown Hollywood: The 15th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be emceed by radio personality Footy and will feature the famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses as well as the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. The parade will start at 1 p.m. at 21st Avenue and Harrison Street and travels through downtown Hollywood. Be prepared to pay for parking, though — event parking is $10 at most garages near the parade. Click here for more info.
