The Lady Owls’ season has officially come to a close.
Despite a game-high 25 points from guard Breana Turner, FAU was defeated by Louisiana-Monroe, 71-63, in Friday’s opening round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
Turner, playing her last game at FAU, scored her points on 10 of 24 shooting. She also added eight assists in 32 minutes.
Her supporting cast wasn’t exactly beneficial.
Just one other Owls starter — guard Takia Brooks (12 points) — reached double-digit scoring. Forward Chenise Miller totaled nine points, as did guard Briah Blakely. Guard Kimberly Smith had seven points on 3-14 shooting in 36 minutes of play.
Five other FAU players combined for just one point.
The Warhawks, however, were the complete opposite, as four of their five starters eclipsed the double-digit mark, allowing them to pull away in a 42-point second half effort.
FAU managed to keep the game close. They trailed at halftime, 28-23, but were step for step with ULM in the second half, scoring 40 points on 35 percent shooting from the field.
As a team, the Owls connected on 31 percent of their shots (23-73), were severely outrebounded by ULM (56 to 35), and largely failed to capitalize on the Warhawks’ 21 turnovers.
The Owls finish their 2012-13 season with a record of 12-17 (9-11 in Sun Belt play).
