FAU to sell beer in the football stadium for 2014 season
An accidental slip up on social media from Student Body President Michael Cepeda reveals that FAU will begin selling beer in the stadium for the 2014 football season — just not in the student section.
On June 18, Cepeda announced the following during a social media campaign to get more students to attend the first home football game:

Turns out he was wrong.

But what he did reveal was that FAU will step up its alcohol sales, just not in the student section. According to FAU spokesperson Lisa Metcalf, FAU will have designated areas for beer sales, with the exception of student sections and seats. People will be required to wear wrist bands and have their IDs checked regularly.
Like the Facebook post, which has since been deleted, allowing beer in the stadium is an attempt to encourage more people to attend the football games. FAU is the only Division I school in South Florida that does not allow beer sales in the stadium, according to Metcalf.
Liquor, wine and beer sales have always been available in the 6,000 premiere seats near center sideline of the stadium, available by purchasing premium tickets.
Many Division 1 schools, like Texas A&M, University of Central Florida and Louisiana State University have elected not to sell beer or alcohol in their stadiums because many undergraduates are not of drinking age and to keep the game-goers from getting out of hand.
This now makes three places on campus that people can purchase beer: The Burrow Bar and Grill, Living Room Theaters and the stadium on game day.
So if you want to buy beer at games, it’s time to upgrade those student tickets and buy some premium seats. The rest of those with free student section tickets are out of luck.
