Jenson Stoshak, senior, wide receiver
Stoshak and his teammates are looking to put their 3-9 season way behind them and improve on what they couldn’t do. “We realized last year was a pretty disappointing year,” he said “We couldn’t finish a lot in games. Our main focus is starting games fast and finishing strong.”
Jaquez Johnson, redshirt senior, quarterback
Johnson holds confidence in the new way the team runs the offense. “It’s the same system,” he explained “Not a lot has changed. We’ve added a few things here and there, but not a whole lot has changed. We’re just trying to be innovative, keep getting better as the years go.”
Brandin Bryant, senior, defensive line
Bryant has a goal to make his last year as an Owl one to remember. “My mindset coming into this season is, first and foremost, to win every game as well as the conference. As an individual, I just want to be unstoppable as a defensive lineman. If me and Trevon Cooley (sic) both have a good game, I think we’ll have a very good defense because it all starts up front.”
Greg Howell, sophomore, running back
Two of the team’s matchups this year will hit close to home for Howell. “Being from Miami, FIU and Miami,” he said “Those are going to be something my community look at big time. That’s my time to actually show them I’m out here doing work and not taking days off, so those are two games that come close to the heart”
Kalib Woods, redshirt sophomore, wide receiver
Woods is making the effort to stand out after his first season for the Owls “I’ve been in the weight room more, I’ve gotten stronger and gained some weight. Really I’ve just buckled down and kind of became a leader for the younger guys, the freshman that came in, helping them watch film and look at the playbook. Just really helping them get the offense as a whole and then I should be able to do what I need to do at game time.”
Cre’von LeBlanc, senior, defensive back
LeBlanc looks forward to his experiences at camp every day. “I mean, the first couple of days it’s going to take a toll on your body,” he said “You’ll be a little sore. But once you start getting in the rhythm of it, you get that rush of being around the guys on the team. It’s that brotherhood, you’re around your brothers 24/7 and there’s a lot of competing going on. It’s just fun.”
