The forecast calls for a musical weekend, with scattered showers of fashion, art, science fiction and yoga. There is plenty going on around town from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale, and on your very own FAU campus. Consult this list for plenty of new events and activities coming your way:

The 1877 play, “Pillars of Society,” written by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, tells the story of businessman Karsten Bernick and how his troubling past haunts him as he embarks on a new venture. The famous work of Ibsen’s time is now the season opener for FAU’s very own Department of Theater and Dance. The show will run until Oct. 11, and tickets may be purchased at FAU Events or by calling 1-800-564-9539.

The Wailers had a successful winter tour last year in celebration of Bob Marley’s 70th birthday, playing numerous sold-out houses across the US. Now, they are here in Fort Lauderdale to get you grooving with their reggae rhythms. See these reggae icons with special guests Big Harvest and Sawgrass Express for $25. Things will get freaky this Friday at the Freaks N’ Flappers party going on at Stache in Fort Lauderdale. Party-goers will experience sideshow-styled live entertainment from performers DangerFun and Jezebelle Red, and can dress in their freakiest, sexiest, scariest costumes to get a free raffle ticket for big prizes. The show starts at 8 p.m., but go early for craft cocktails during Stache’s Imbibe Happy Hour from 5-9 p.m.

Experience urban culture and art with this event presented by Southrageous Entertainment and Alchemy Art, and hosted by Ian Caven. This elemental themed presentation will feature hip-hop, breakdancing, live graffiti art and DJs, with performances by J Savvy, Trizzy Tree, 1Hot, Guapo and more. The elements will come together at the Arts Garage, which also has a fun “B.Y.O.W. Policy” (Bring Your Own Whatever) to this showcase, including food, beverages (including alcohol) or whatever else you may need for a good time. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Hear music from “yesterday, today and tomorrow” as FAU’s Wind Ensemble opens their season. A new approach has been taken this year, with players using the entire theatre space, visual effects and even performing improvisations, to create a better experience than ever before. Unlimited Devotion has developed a devoted following of fans as a Grateful Dead tribute band, toting a setlist full of psychedelic and bluesy covers as well as songs by other popular classic rock acts. As Grateful Dead is not for the faint of heart, this is a 21 and older show. Tickets can be purchased for $15 online at Ticket Fly or at the door.

The Madrid-based DJ/producer duo, Chus & Ceballos, continue on their Nomadas album tour and will be right in your backyard this weekend. Listen to what Stache nightclub refers to as “proper house music” as these two showcase the percussion-driven, tribal house music that came to be known as “Iberican Sound” and put them on the map. The event is strictly 21+ and cover is $19 in advance from Ticketmaster or at the event box office the night of.

Revolution Live will be host to rock and roll group Clutch for their Psychic Warfare World Tour.  With the “riffs-in-your-face” and vintage style of tracks from their 10th studio album “Earth Rocker,” they are ready to rock this weekend. Want a relaxing Sunday without the lazy factor? Grab your mat and get ready for 90 minutes of serenity with JAI Healing Arts in Delray. This yoga session on the beach focuses on vinyasa flow, which combines deep breathing and postures that stretch, lengthen and liberate physical, mental and emotional tension. All ages are welcome and it’s suggested to bring a swimsuit for an after-class swim. The weekly activity is free, although a $10 – $15 donation is suggested. Class goes on as long as the weather permits, and don’t forget quarters for parking!
