32 cars broken into on Boca campus
November 20, 2015
Thirty two cars were broken into on the Florida Atlantic campus early Friday morning, the FAU Police Department confirmed.
“I saw about ten of them this morning when I was walking with my roommate to her car,” said sophomore Brianna Ash.
Ash and her friend were near the back of Living Room Theater close to the Parliament dorm.
“I woke up to a phone call saying that my car got broken into last night,” criminal justice major, Paul Silano said. “I went there and my driver side front seat window was shattered.”
Silano’s car was in the Indian River Towers’ parking lot. He found out about the break-in through a call from the FAU Police Department.
In an email sent today, FAU Chief Press Officer Lisa Metcalf said that 32 cars were broken into, that FAU was not the only area targeted and nothing was stolen from the vehicles.
Florida Atlantic did not report any instances of vandalism in the most recent Clery Act Report. The report requires college campuses all over the country to provide crime statistics for their campuses.

Additionally I heard safety and security was a concern previously, why weren’t there deterents, better lighting, cameras, security staff placed appropriately. Not like this is a cheap community college.

And where were the campus cops last night while the car windows were being smashed. That is a lot of cars to hit. Donut shop? My kids car was one of them. Kind of pissed.
