After several unrevealed disciplinary problems last year caused him to miss four games and the 2016 spring game, sophomore running back Trey Rodriguez was dismissed from the FAU football program.

The news was announced on the FAU football official page Twitter page Tuesday afternoon, citing that Rodriguez “failed to abide by the standards required and failed to meet the necessary obligations to be a member of the team.”

In six games played during his lone year with the Owls, he tallied 419 rushing yards on 70 carries, including a then-career high 114 rushing yards in a 27-17 loss at UTEP. His 419 yards ranked third on the team among running backs.

FAU Athletics nor head coach Charlie Partridge have yet to comment on the dismissal. Follow the University Press for updates as the story continues to develop.
