Take advantage of local savings available to college students at these spots.

Freshmen, besides the obvious perks of being a college student, you can receive discounts at local hot spots. All you have to do is have a valid OWL Card.
Multiple stores and restaurants in the Boca Raton area offer student deals. From food to places to go on a rainy day to clothing, here are some local savings courtesy of your OWL Card, also known as your student ID.
Brewzzi, an Italian-American restaurant located by the Boca Town Center Mall on Glades Road, offers Florida Atlantic students with an OWL Card a 20 percent discount on dinner.
With entrees starting at $16, Brewzzi can satisfy all of your Italian cuisine carbohydrate cravings. They also offer two loyalty programs that help frequent diners save on food.
If you’re tired of dealing with traffic on the drive to the beach, then check out these two attractions that are less than 10 minutes away from campus and offer student discounts on admission.
The Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park offers free admission for students as opposed to the $8 general admission. With a broad scope of ever-changing exhibitions and collections, it’s the perfect place to browse art from contemporary Central Asia to Andy Warhol prints.
On weekdays, students can get movie theater tickets at Cinemark Palace 20 for $8.25 as opposed to $10.50 for normal admission. Located at 3200 Airport Road, the theater is just a five-minute drive from campus.
Both BJ’s Wholesale Club and Sam’s Club offer student memberships that help save money when buying bulk items such as toilet paper, cleaning supplies and snacks.
BJ’s offers a yearlong student membership for $30, compared to the standard $50. And if you purchase a yearlong membership to Sam’s Club for $40, you will receive a $15 gift card to the store.
Your student ID can be used to save a percentage on clothing at stores including as Charlotte Russe with 10 percent off, Banana Republic and Pier 1 Imports with 15 percent off, Goodwill with 15 percent off on Wednesdays, while Juicy Couture and Urban Outfitters each offer up to 15 percent off as well.
On top of these deals, FAU started a promotional program known as “Owl Perks,” in which partnered businesses in the surrounding community offer special deals when an OWL card is shown in order to encourage University pride and community support.
So far participating businesses include Lord and Taylor in Mizner Park with a 15 percent off discount, The Dubliner in Mizner Park which offers 10 percent off the entire check, and DaVinci’s of Boca in the Town Center Mall, which offers 15 percent off the entire check.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this organization that allows us to connect with our neighbor FAU in a new way,” General Manager Mindy Horvitz said. “We are excited to show what our store has to offer to the FAU community.”
So next time you’re in the checkout line, ask if they offer a student discount and take advantage of OWL Card savings while you can. You won’t be a student forever.
