Even if our football team loses this season, game-goers can still win: with beer shakes and tacos.

On Sept. 3, game attendees of Florida Atlantic’s opener versus Southern Illinois were greeted by more than 10 food and drink establishments, almost half of them being new additions.

“Our main objective for the concessions plan for the 2016-2017 season was to partner with more local vendors in order to bring in options that represent the flavors of our community,” said Phillip Busch, FAU Stadium and arena manager.

One of those local vendors is Davie-based B.C. Tacos — a caveman-themed food truck that slings back street tacos throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and West Palm Beach.

Owner Brett Chiavari said talks started last year. “One thing led to another and we got talking and thought our tacos would be a perfect fit to go into the stadium with the newly revamped food choices,” he said.

B.C. Tacos menu prices start at around $4 and includes things like “The Hunter,” a ground-steak taco with lettuce and cheddar cheese and “The Gatherer,” a taco with fried avocado, lettuce, shredded mozzarella and chipotle mayo.

“We love to support local whenever we can, professionally and personally,” Chiavari continued. “Being able to expand and partner locally is something that we are truly happy [about] and excited for.” B.C. Tacos is located outside sections 123-124 (see map below).

As for the beer shakes, Busch said, “Think a milkshake but made with beer. [It’s a] combination of ice cream, beer and flavored syrup.”

Options will include Guinness Caramel, Blue Moon Orange Creamsicle and Islamorada Key Lime Pie. Beer shakes are available inside gates three and four, near the Carribean Cove.

Additional new vendors this season include Outside The Box Sandwich Co. with paninis and wraps, Boca Raton natives, Tomasso’s Pizza, with the restaurant’s signature pizza by the slice and Owl Ball Sliders — meatballs stuffed inside garlic rolls — and Rita’s Italian Ice.
