Students and faculty who are still on campus during winter break can expect some outages to campus Wi-Fi and services like Workday and Blackboard due to scheduled maintenance starting on Dec. 21.

Florida Atlantic sent out an email on Dec. 19 stating that the Office of Information Technology will be upgrading those systems and apps during the break.

The schedule of changes are listed below:

Wednesday, Dec. 21, 6 p.m. to Thursday, Dec. 22, 6 a.m.

  • The FAU Data Center will be having its battery backup — its main power source — switched, which will push most of the university’s apps to a secondary power source for 12 hours.
    • Banner, Workday, Blackboard and FAU’s wireless network are not anticipated to be affected by the switch.
    • Department share drives and servers for other departments that run through the Data Center will not be available during this time.

Monday, Dec. 26, 1-6 a.m.

  • Core System Maintenance, internet and other services may not be available at certain points.

Monday, Dec. 26, 6 p.m. to Tuesday, Dec. 27, 6 a.m.

  • The Office of Information Technology will be updating the Banner app in anticipation of a new upgrade coming in 2017 related to the app’s presentation.

Wednesday, Dec. 28 to Friday, Dec. 30, 1-6 a.m. each day

  • Core System Maintenance, internet and other services may not be available at certain points.
