Four on-campus organizations are looking to improve student body health and join a national movement Wednesday.
FAU’s Healthy Campus Expo event will be part of the nationwide campaign “Healthy Campus 2020” by the American College Health Association. The organization looks to improve health practices of college students around the country.
Student Health Services, Owls Care Health Promotion, Student Accessibility Services, and CAPS will sponsor the event.
“The goal of the event is to make students aware of the health related services that are offered on and off campus,” Kirk Dougher, assistant vice president of Counseling and Psychological Services.
Adam Devine, star of Comedy Central show “Workaholics,” will perform a comedy routine while incorporating health-related messages into his act, Dougher said.
The event will also provide free flu shots and health screenings for students, as well as teach them new ways to live a healthier lifestyle.
A total of 59 confirmed vendors are expected to attend the expo, including AIDS Healthcare Foundation, American Cancer Society, and the Florida Department of Health. Just over 20 of the vendors are FAU affiliated.
Students will have the chance to win backstage passes to meet Devine during the expo. The doors for his act will open at 4 p.m., and Devine will take the Student Union auditorium stage at 5 p.m.
The expo will run tomorrow from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. in the Student Union.
