A dead body was found in an FAU residence hall on April 7, according to FAU police’s crime log.
Paul Petrino, the operations manager of the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner Office, said the office was called in and confirmed the death to the UP.
Petrino said the body was a male and that an official identification on the body would come within the week. A full toxicology report will be ready in about two to three months, he said.
The cause of death is unclear, and is currently ruled as an “unattended death,” which refers to a situation where a dead body isn’t found for “days, weeks or even months,” according to Aftermath, a biohazard removal service. FAU police declined to comment, citing that the case is still active. It’s unclear who found the body.
The crime log was updated on April 13, six days after the death.
This is a developing story and will be updated.

Firstly, my condolences goes out to the family of the deceased male. I am praying for them because I have a college student as well at the university. It could happen to anyone of us as parents. FAU parents we are very concerned about this situation. If there is a contact number please inform us because we care about the safety of our college students. The epidemic is real and everyone needs to take serious precaution during this time.

This was nearly guaranteed an OD. FAU isn’t “hiding anything”, they just can’t comment on an open case. People commenting how they are scared to send their children to FAU, as long as they don’t do drugs they aren’t going to be dying.

This is seriously scary. First it was suicide in garage 1 and now they found a dead body in a residence hall. I wonder did they die from a virus or something else?

Sad news for the family of the adult male. But there needs to be a resolution before I consider sending my daughter to FAU in the fall.
Thank you so much
